The Avetrium Engine represents the vital core of the Avetrium Suite. The Engine is provided as an appliance, a server ready for rack mounting
and configuration in your data facility. The Engine accepts, consolidates, stores and indexes all data it receives from the Avetrium Gateway(s). That
data is then readily available to the Avetrium Dashboard for real-time reporting, to Avetrium Certified Applications for futher data processing, or
to other applications via the Avetrium Engine API.
The Engine includes configurable business logic trees to trigger events based on rules that you introduce and manage.
Send email, SMS, faxes, 1 way messaging to an Avetrium Mobile Agent, or even an XML data stream to your own Web Service
in response to alarms, changes in data, static data, thresholds, trends and more.

| Why An Appliance? |
Why do we provide the Avetrium Engine (and Dashboard) as an appliance rather than as software only?
- Network Security: Avetrium can easily be isolated and protected as it's own device.
- Support: We can support your installation remotely without ever risking your network security.
- Upgrades: We can upgrade your Engine and Dashboard easily.
- Backups / Redundancy: We add a second appliance to mirror the first. Load balance from your router for greater capacity while enjoying the security
of total hardware redundancy with transparent failovers.
- Expandability: If you need more capacity, we simply add another blade to the configuration, no need for major reconfigurations.
