The Avetrium Gateway is a server that listens for and/or polls for relevant data from Avetrium Mobile Agents,
Avetrium Certified RFiD readers, Avetrium Certified GPS receivers, and other Avetrium Certified DCDs (Data Collection Devices) or
DCDs that connect through the Gateway API.
The Gateway caches all data and forwards to the Avetrium Engine over TCP/IP. The Gateway can also push data back to Mobile Agents. Multiple
Gateways may be deployed over multiple sites for redundancy, load sharing and to accommodate segmented networks.
While the Avetrium Gateway is typically deployed on site, it may be located remotely, even on the same server as the Avetrium Engine
if a reliable WAN is not an issue.
The Gateway will connect and exchange data seamlessly with all Avetrium Mobile Agents, and all Avetrium Certified Hardware. To accommodate hardware that
is NOT Avetrium Certified, the Avetrium Gateway API makes rapid development for connectivity easy.
